Our work-in-progress blogs followed one customer’s journey through a bathroom renovation. To go back and follow the story from the beginning, see part 1 of this bathroom renovation project for details on the planning and inspiration undertaken in week one, followed by the progress of the second and third weeks.

Stephen Jacques contacted Big Bathroom Shop after deciding on a new, family-friendly bathroom to satisfy the needs of his young family. He decided to overhaul his current family bathroom and begun his bathroom renovation journey.
The bathroom measured 1850mm (W) x 2900mm (L) x 2300mm (H) and contained:
- Glass basin
- Walk-in shower with 1-outlet thermostatic valve
- Single flush close coupled toilet
- Tiled floor with step up to shower and basin
- Tiled walls
- Small heated towel rail
- No storage facilities

The new bathroom was designed to include a:
- Double-ended bath
- Small quadrant shower enclosure
- Small wall mounted basin
- Removal of the step to the basin and shower
So, with the end in sight, we caught up with the Jacques family to find out how they got on in the final stages of their bathroom renovation project.
Weekends Four and Five
“The tiler did a fantastic job. It was a tough decision whether to go portrait or landscape with the tiles but I’m glad we went with the landscape option with a mosaic stripe” said Stephen.

Mosaic tiles are low-maintenance, extremely durable and very versatile meaning they are an ideal addition to any bathroom décor.
The mosaic effect tiles were contrasted against beige, natural look tiles in order to create an accent and break up the dimensions. Additionally, the neutral tiles help to reflect light around the room providing an open, airy space.

Once the grout and silicone had dried, Stephen then attempted to fit the shower enclosure and additional accessories.
He installed this Premier 900mm quadrant shower enclosure, this Ultra twin shower valve, a slide rail kit from Ultra and this round fixed shower head and ceiling arm from Hudson Reed.
With the bathroom almost complete, Stephen commented: “It’s now just the finishing touches and the room is complete. The kids can’t wait to get their bathroom back!”

Stephen also said that the next job would be to tackle the en-suite.
