How to style your bathroom like the Netflix smash hit!
Inspired by Julia Quinn’s bestselling novel series, Netflix’s superhit, Bridgerton, has been feeding scandal and drama to around 90 million people hungry for anything to escape lockdown.
But while many have been distracted by Daphne and the Duke, we’ve been admiring the lavish interior designs and asking “how do people achieve a Bridgerton bathroom?”.
As Google searches surge with people trying to find out how to add a touch of Regencycore decor to their homes, we thought we’d play our part too.
So, here are our 7 Bridgerton-Inspired Regencycore Bathroom Tips.
1 – The Decadent Bathtub
No better place to begin than with the stand out piece of decadent regencycore decor, the thing that no self-respecting period-style bathroom is ever complete without – the bathtub.
A classic and sophisticated example of a regency style bathtub, the Milano Legend features a vintage clawfoot design that adds to the grandeur and drama of the overall look.
Place a freestanding bathtub in the centre of your bathroom and pair it with warm and tactile accessories to instantly nail the Bridgerton style!
2 – The Regal Brassware
There are few names more regal sounding than, Elizabeth (are you listening, Daphne?), and no more stylish and appropriate brassware collection for a Regencycore bathroom than the Milano Elizabeth collection.
Indulgent gold, bronze and chrome finishes help to emphasise your bold and flamboyant style, and crosshead designs with insignias add even more of a luxury feel.
Select from more modern designs to introduce a contemporary touch, or keep it old school and hark back to the start of 19th century London with exposed shower valves with ceramic levers.
3 – The High Roller Toilet
Though we’ve not seen too many trips to the lav in season one of Bridgerton, we’ll wager that there wasn’t any scrimping going on when the Duke of Hastings was having his privy designed.
For a truly authentic regency feel, the Richmond range of high-cistern toilets recreates the style and charm of mid 19th century bathroom luxury.
Ceramic handles and chrome flush chains add to the feeling of stately home majesty, and although the Richmond may look like it was a bygone era, it features all the modern comforts you need for added peace of mind.
4 – Work It With Wisteria
We’re big fans of plants in bathrooms and Wisteria has also seen a remarkable increase in Google searches, thanks to Daphne and her family – and perhaps Fearne Cotton too.
From wall decals and floral shower curtains, there are several ways to work Wisteria into your bathroom space, without having to dig up the garden.
And it doesn’t always have to be purple in colour either, or even actual Wisteria in design and look! – Graham & Brown do a fabulous Jungle Blush Green wallpaper that combines new and old styles & colours and it is perfect for a regency bathroom.
5 – The Bold Basins
Whether pedestal basins or ornate washstands – or both if you have several bathrooms as the Bridgerton family have – choosing a wash area for your Regencycore bathroom or en-suite comes down to how far you’re willing to go to achieve the authentic look.
Classic traditional vibes can be found quite easily in the Windsor & Sandringham ranges – but if you’re going all out for a more genuine look – the sort we expect the Duke is fond of – you better opt for the Dalton or Richmond washstand.
Both work well in a Regencycore space but, if we had to choose, we would probably opt for the washstand as we’ve been admiring those for almost as long as Penelope Featherington has been in love with her BFF’s brother!
6 – Crank Up The Traditional Heating!
We expect it got rather cold in some of the big stately homes found in Netflixs’ hit series, and as radiators didn’t exist – as we know them – till 1855-ish we doubt they had many of those adorning the walls either.
However, you don’t have to worry about that in 2021, you can add even more regal touches to your home through your heating system.
From modern steel designs made to look like traditional column radiators from the 19th century, to vintage style ornate cast iron radiators that ooze authentic charm, your Regencycore heating options are far better than Daphne Bridgerton’s.
For a classic look that is sure to add period-style drama to your bathroom, we’d look no further than the exquisite styling of the Milano Elizabeth range, in oil rubbed bronze!
7 – Go Pastel, Or Go Home!
Finally, on the colour choice for your Bridgerton bathroom space, you should be looking at hazy pastel colours and nothing else at all.
One of the key features of the show – and the one that probably makes you pine for a time long ago more than any other – is the colour palette used throughout the period drama.
From the soft pinks of the satin gowns to the lilacs hung on the front of the house, there are pastels everywhere and it’s only right that they feature in your bathroom.
For a romantic edge that encapsulates the era, choose pale blues and soft sage greens that calm the space and allow your dramatic gold brassware, bathtub and basin to do the shouting!
